Are You Prioritizing Your Goals or Your Excuses?

I’m a part of a wellness community that does a challenge four times a year, and this week, we got word that they implemented a new rule regarding seed oils. We could no longer have things like sunflower oil, safflower oil, or my personal favorite, rice bran oil. (Chipotle, anyone?)
When I read about this rule change, my first thought was “oh, fuck this.”
I live in a Single Room Occupancy building in Manhattan and my apartment doesn’t have a kitchen. This was going to be a real kick in the pants for me. I thought to myself “maybe I should just not do it.”
Then, it came to me that it wasn’t this wellness community that wasn’t serving me any longer—it was my fucking apartment!
Not consuming polyunsaturated fats is good! It will help prevent me from possibly getting cancer and other diseases.
My kitchen-less apartment, on the other hand, just makes my life harder.
I was prioritizing the excuse.
How many times do you catch yourself prioritizing excuses over goals?
“Well, I can’t because…”
What comes at the end of the “I can’t because” is exactly the thing you should be looking at!
