Knowing With Your Intellect Vs. KNOWING
In this episode, I use the GREAT example of “The People Pleaser” to demonstrate the difference between knowing something intellectually, and embodying it.
I am not a “People Pleaser” by any means. I didn’t develop that in childhood as a way to earn praise or love. Thus, as an adult, I know that if I say what I mean and mean what I say, my family, friends, and romantic partners will still:
-love me
-respect me
-want to be around me
-want to go on trips with me
-will find me attractive
-will want to have sex with me
-will support me in what I decide to do
Now, MANY PEOPLE PLEASERS KNOW THIS INTELLECTUALLY.
However, when it comes to speaking their mind, putting themselves first, making decisions, asking for help, or doing something as simple as choosing the music on a trip with friends, they feel this burst of anxiety; like everything is about to go to hell any second.
This feeling occurs in the body. Like Dr. Joe Dispenza talks about in his work, “the body becomes the mind.”
There’s a difference between knowing something with your rational mind, and embodying that same thing.
We store our past beliefs and traumas in our bodies. It’s in your fucking body, buried deep with your limiting beliefs and triggered by calcified neural pathways.
It’s in your body.
In this episode, I talk about when we know something, and when we really know it.
