On POWER in Sobriety, Drinking Identity, and the BLISS of Recovery

You’ve decided to stop drinking.
The first two days seem amazing. “YES. I am finally getting rid of this shit that’s been out of control for years.”
But then the thoughts start:
“Who will I be?”
“What is my life going to look like?”
It’s been a long time since I did an episode on sobriety. I’m nearly two years into it, and it gets richer every day.
Outside of the first few months, I had a relatively easy time with sobriety. I didn’t go to meetings (although I am all about people doing that if they need to and if it works for them.)
I dealt with my own sobriety by doing personal development work, as behaviors are really just things on the surface of who we are.
In this episode, I talk alllllll about the “drinking identity,” how that isn’t really you, and how you have access to the actual “you” at any point.
I talk about the perceived euphoria of drinking binges, and how when you enter the world of sober clarity, that, along with so much else, is accessible to you all the time.
I also tell stories about sexting, the absence of “the guilties,” and how much I hate chicken.
Settle in. Get informed. Get entertained.
