Show Up Imperfect: Part 2
80 Episodes. I can’t even believe it.
Today’s episode of The Get the F*ck Off Podcast is a throwback to Episode 30, “Show Up Imperfect.”
As I wrote in the description for Episode 30:
“I started The Get the F*ck Off Podcast without much thought or preparation.
I knew that a podcast would be complementary to what I did overall, so I bought a mic, and within two weeks, I had put my first few episodes out into the world.
Neither of those episodes was perfect. In fact, even now, I wouldn’t consider what I do to be “perfect” by any means.
People spend their lives waiting to do things until they feel they’re 100% “ready.”
You’re never going to be 100% ready, and the first time you do something, no matter how great you think you are, is going to be awkward as hell.
The world celebrates those who celebrate themselves, and who are willing to share their gifts with as many people as possible.
We have this idea that we should:
1. Learn to do the thing
2. Do the thing in secrecy
3. Talk about what we did and gain all the approval once it’s done
That’s actually not how it goes. It actually looks more like this:
1. Start doing the thing
2. Learn as you go
3. Speak proudly the whole damn way through.”
This week, I had my first call for my women’s coaching community, “Day 1.”
I was reminded once again about how showing up imperfect never really stops.
I’d never led a coaching community before. I’d just been a part of one. Sure, I’d led groups, but this was new.
I learned that I would always, whenever I’d start a new thing, have to show up imperfect at least once, and with every single bout of “showing up,” there would be learning that would continue to help me grow, change, and develop.
I mean, who knew I wouldn’t know how to share my damn Zoom screen two years into coaching? IDFK. It never came up! (lol)
This was a refresher on Show Up Imperfect, because hell, it’s been 50 episodes, and the concept is as fresh today as it was then.
I talk a lot toward the end of the episode about identity, showing up today, showing up as you are, and building from the present moment.
Enrollment for my Women’s Coaching Community, “Day 1.” ends this Friday, 6/24/2022
