“TOO LATE” is a Social Construction

This episode talks about my favorite thing in the world – “time.”
Whether we are talking about the time of the year, or the time on the clock, everything we know about time is socially constructed. (And, let’s face it, so is a lot of shit in our lives.)
For example, the global standard of time was invented with the expansion of the railroad in the 19th century. The “weekend” came about during the Great Depression when work weeks were cut to 40 hours so more people could retain employment. That was solidified into law with the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938.
Everything you know about time was constructed by a person or an industry.
But- times are changing. Globalization has made the world different. Industry is different. Individuals are different.
The concept of “too late” is ridiculous.
It used to be “normal” to have babies at 14. Now, we seriously investigate pregnancies that young.
People used to say if you weren’t married by 21 you were “over the hill.” FUCKING SPINSTER. Now, it’s very common to get married later in life—or fuck, more than once! My father did it five times.
Since you now KNOW that “too late” is a social construction, because time is a social construction, you have the tools in your arsenal to take back POWER over time.
REALIZE that it isn’t too late- that society has you confused and take charge of the present moment to make real, lasting change in your life.
