Miss Magnolia Says: Conversation with Wellness Blogger Emily Rose
In this episode of the Get the F*ck Off Podcast, wellness blogger, author, school psychologist, and yoga teacher Emily Rose and I dig deep into the importance of personal connection through stories.
Emily’s blog Miss Magnolia Says (missmagnoliasays.com) focuses on real stories from her life and talks about different concepts that link us together through the human experience.
Her goal with the blog is to foster connection back to ourselves, as reading the stories of others often functions as a little piece of self-discovery.
Emily has written on a variety of topics including her most popular article on Imposter Syndrome (which we dig deep into in the episode,) along with boundary setting, and practicing the pause to understand one’s emotions.
We talk about all of this in this episode, along with the concept of learned helplessness, and how humans often feel like doing anything different would cause them a tremendous amount of uncontrollable pain.
We also discuss ways to take a step back and realize that you do have choices, and that anxiety in new situations is normal; so is not always knowing what you’re doing— and doing it anyway.
Another thing we loop back to many times in this episode is using your voice, and knowing that what you have to say is not only important but may actually have the power to completely change someone else’s life.
Sharing yourself publicly and being vulnerable is scary, but what you have to say is so important for someone else to hear right now.
