On Transformation: People Will Leave Your Life, and YOU May Be the Villain in Their Story
I think about this a lot.
When you go through a transformation, it’s very common for people to leave.
When I stopped drinking, I used to believe the story that people would leave my life because I wasn’t “fun anymore.” That isn’t the actual reason why they ended up leaving.
We can’t stay connected to people we don’t match the frequency of, as we are vibrational beings.
It wasn’t that I wasn’t “fun anymore,” but rather it was because I wasn’t sad anymore. I wasn’t a victim to everything anymore. I wasn’t hopeless anymore.
When you go through a change, one of two things will happen: you will either become a lighthouse for the people closest to you to grow, or you will annoy the fuck out of people so much, and trigger them so fucking much, they will walk the fuck right out of your life.
And… that has to be OK.
No matter how hard you try, you MAY BE the villain in someone else’s story.
I talk about this in this episode, and how what we often do is take something someone says as a personal attack. I’ve done it, and people have done it to me.
One of The Four Agreements (from the book The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz) is “don’t take anything personally.”
Yet, when people remain unhealed in an area, something you say MAY touch them in a way that’s triggering. They may feel intense anger for you and your very being.
This is a transformation reality.
I’d love to say that you can elevate and keep everybody around, but… you just can’t.
They’re gonna go.
