Running Back to Your Old Lover
With letting go of any bad habit, there comes a point where things get hard. That's a good sign- it's usually a moment where we get to grow and change.
However, when that moment happens, a lot of us often feel inclined to throw our hands up, say "fuck this!" and run back to our "old lover." In my case, that old lover was the bar scene, but we all have different vices.
It might be the cigarette, the martini, or the cupcakes, but much like restarting a relationship that failed for valid reasons, running back to your vices will lead you in the opposite direction you want to go.
What's happening with us is cognitive rigidity, and if we can just force our way through that, there is so much light and prosperity on the other side.
