Recharging with Self-Care: Conversation with Mental and Emotional Hygiene Coach Kate Hesse

Kate is a Mental and Emotional Hygiene Coach and a former people-pleasing perfectionist. Her work involves helping her clients find their way from guilt, frustration, and overwhelm to freedom, ease, and joy by teaching them to use mental and emotional hygiene tools and techniques to build a life they're excited to wake up to every day.
No stranger to burnout, years ago she found herself sitting under her desk at work crying, realizing her life had fallen so far out of balance that it had become unsustainable.
Through her own process of getting her life back to balance, she’s developed a roadmap to help others understand better how to recharge their own energy reserves, heal their burnout, and discover a process of rejuvenation that works for them and their busy lives.
In this episode, we discuss the actual physiology of self-care, and why establishing a self-care routine is so integral in our overall physical health and well-being.
Kate also discusses the differences between self-care, self-work, and distraction. While each of these has a place, self-work and distraction do not serve us in the way of refilling our energy reserves.
(Hint- the Netflix binge you might mistakenly call “self-care” actually does nothing to refill your energy reserves.)
We also talk about one of my favorite topics: BOUNDARIES. Kate does an awesome job of micro-stepping boundary-setting for those of you who may have trouble implementing boundaries in your lives.
